We pray these words over and over again. Do we really have any idea what they mean?

What is temptation? The cake sitting in the display window at the confectioner´s shop around the corner is a temptation for me. Apart from the fact that it would certainly do my body good to resist the cake, the temptation becomes all the more critical when it involves something not lawful for me.

Yielding to a temptation may bring may bring me short term advantage and pleasure, but seen objectively, and long term, it´s always something that harms myself and very possibly others. I battle with these temptations every day... big, small, in both the trivial and in matters of existential importance. They´re not easy for me, and I struggle with them.

Lord, I´m too weak to resist...help me!!
